Sharing a classic cookie recipe in my household today, sugar cookies. These are no ordinary sugar cookies, they are extremely soft and moist. They are Matt’s absolute favorite, he asks for them all year long. You also also very easily make them snickerdoodle cookies, the recipe makes A LOT of cookies so I often make half sugar half snickerdoodle.
Bake at 350 for 10 minutes (makes 4 dozen cookies)
4 cups flous
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
I will give you my mothers written “instructions” but I will be 100% honest I throw it all in a bowl together and mix it up, I am not much for following directions haha.
Beat egg whites. In separate bowl, mix shortening, sugar and egg yolks. Sprinkle in baking soda and salt. Add in Four and Buttermilk alternatively. Fold egg whites in by hand. Let cool in fridge.
Use a spoon so scoop onto a cookie sheet, then sprinkle with either sugar or cinnamon sugar.
Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.
