I want to start off by saying I am sorry for not having my wedding Wednesday post up this week. It has been a hectic week along with a lack of planning on my part. But I promise next week I will be sharing my dress shopping experience with yall on the blog! I think dress shopping was a huge motivator for me to want to hit the gym and really try to eat my best for the next few months. I feel the need to throw in the disclaimer of I love my body. Every woman should love their bodies the way they are because we are all beautiful. But I also want to look my best on this big day in my life. I know I will be happier with myself in the long run if I put in some effort now. Without further adieu, here is what I have been eating over the past week or two and my new workout routine.
What I have been eating:
I think eating well is the hardest part for me, because I love my carbs. My plan is to go for low carb and also low calorie foods throughout my day. I also LOVE sweets so I am trying to get my sweets fix from natural sugars like fruit. The most important part to remember when on a “diet” is not to completely deprive yourself of things you love. Otherwise after a week you will just go crazy and eat a box of Oreo’s or something haha. For breakfast I love hard boiled eggs, or some Greek yogurt with fresh fruit, or if I have time a smoothie with fruits and spinach, and of course a big cup of coffee. I usually have a snack mid-morning like a banana, or more coffee. Normally I pack my lunch for work. I take either left overs from dinner or a sandwich or a salad. Since I love sweets I usually finish off my lunch with something like an orange, it makes me feel like I had a little treat and perks me up to be back to work. I often eat a small snack in the afternoon like carrots and humus, or a Lara bar (the coconut is my favorite). Dinner is where I often struggle because I eat with Matt, which it really isn’t fair to blame him. We eat a variety of things, spaghetti, pot roast, hot dogs, salad, grilled chicken. I try to always fix at least one if not two vegetables to go with dinner. My biggest takeaway from eating well at dinner is that it doesn’t always matter what you are eating, it’s how much of it you are eating. Try to have a big glass of water with each meal it will help you feel full and not over eat. If you slip up, don’t beat yourself up over it, just keep on trying and you will slowly start to see results.
My workout routine:
I don’t know how much this really qualifies as a routine haha, but we can call it that. I am blessed to work for a company that has a great gym on site that is open 24/7. Starting off my day right I find it best to workout in the morning before work. If I plan to workout after I can easily convince myself through out the day to skip it. Also as stupid as it might sound I always feel really awake and ready for the day after I go to the gym in the morning. I often start off with cardio, I love using the elliptical for about 30 minutes. If I have time I then use some free weights 8 or 10 lbs. and do a few arm workouts. This isn’t a long or strenuous workout, but it is something that I feel is manageable and realistic for starting out. When starting a new workout routine start off with something that you can actually get excited about and do, then slowly add in some more exercises to your routine over time.
