Sorry it has taken me so long to get this post together y’all. Matt and I moved into our home 2 months ago and are still settling in, but I want to show you around our house before we get to decorating. I quickly want to apologize for the photo quality, I am new to taking indoor pictures and clearly need to take a class or two. Our fist big home purchase was custom blinds for the entire house. We looked around for where to get quality, custom, and affordable blinds. I found Select Blinds after much research and loved their variety of options, quick turn around, and the quality that went into their blinds. I am going to walk you through our home (well most of it) and show you the blinds we choose and what we love about them.
When you first come into the house, my office is on the right, which is not photographed because it is currently looks like a UPS shipping facility haha. As you walk past my office we then have our formal dinning room. We were so excited about the bay window in our dinning room. It really helps to make the room look big and bright during the day. For most of the house we picked 2″ Premium Faux Wood Blinds in embossed white, the embossing makes each blind look like real wood texture, with out the cost and heavy weight of real wood. We are so happy with our choice they look great through out the house. As you can tell we have a dinning room table, but we are still picking out the chairs and rest of the items to put this room together.
Matt installed all of the blinds by himself, I watched haha. Everything came in organized boxes, labeled with which room and window the blind is for. I also want to mention how easy it was to measure for the blinds. They explain all the measurements they need, it just takes a few minutes to walk through and write them all down. You select the blind style you like online, fill in the measurements and along with any customizations you need, and then note which room and window the blind belongs to. Our blinds came in so quickly! It only took about two weeks, which was amazing since we had nothing when we first moved in. Matt said they could not have been more user friendly to install, he had the entire house done in a day. However, if you do run into any issues their customer service is amazing at answering all of your questions, they are easy to talk to and can explain every part of the blind selection and installation process to you.
Our formal dinning room is open to the living room, which I love for when we have guests over. It also creates a nice, bright and airy look during the day. The sun sets in the back of our house so the blinds in the living room are amazing in the evening when we are trying to watch TV.
The whole back of the house is a open floorpan. The living room, breakfast room, and kitchen are all open and bright which I love.
As much as I love looking out the kitchen window while doing the dishes, once again the sun sets in the back of our house. So it is nice to be able to close the blinds in the evening when I am cleaning up so I am not blinded by the sun. Also since we got the faux wood I can easily clean these blinds if I were to ever get anything on them.
Now upstairs, to our very luxurious mater bedroom, well I wouldn’t call it luxurious yet but it’s a start. We are saving our money and not trying to decorate the entire house at once, so for now our metal bed frame and Walmart nightstands will have to do. However the one thing Matt said we could not live without were black out shades. He often works 3rd shift so a nice dark bedroom even during the middle of the day is a must. I love the ones we selected they are simple white with a tonal stripe. I eventually want to add curtains as well so I didn’t want something too busy that would try to compete.
Lastly my favorite blind in the house the one above my bathtub. I love having this blind open during the day because the large window lets in so much light. However for obvious reasons we needed a shade in our bathroom. I thought climbing in and out of the tub to open a blind would be annoying so we opted for the remote control option. This option was a little more expensive, but so worth it if you ask me. The remote was easy to program and is even easier to use.
I hope y’all enjoyed the first peak inside of our new home. I was unable to share several other rooms like the guest bedrooms and loft area mostly because they do not have furniture yet. I am excited to take you with me on this journey while we decorate our first home.
Thank you Select Blinds for sponsoring this post, as always all thoughts and opinions are my own.
