Our house is finally starting to look like a home! This is the first of my building updates what I will be sharing with yall as we go through building our first home. I want to be really honest with yall about this experience, so that includes sharing the good and the bad. We started the buying process in January.. yes January. We spent over a month picking the right mortgage broker because we are young and wanted someone who actually cared about us and helping explain the entire process. After we found a broker we were comfortable with then came the pre-appraisal since we are building. That was another headache. The appraiser we were assigned (they are selected by random) undervalued the house and used much smaller home comps for pricing. That delayed us another two weeks. So we finally started the official building process in the beginning of March.
Here is our entryway, we will be having hardwoods put in throughout the first floor of the house. I just love how open and bright everything is. When you first come in my office is to the right. Then the formal dining room. The back of the house is very open, the kitchen, breakfast room, and living room are all together.
Here is a close up of the formal dining room, I am so excited we were able to get the bay window for more light!
It doesn’t look like much yet but this is our master bedroom which is upstairs with the other 3 bedrooms. I can’t wait to show yall more as it processes in the building process. I visit the house at least once a week and also share updates on my Instagram stories. So far my biggest take aways from building a home are patience, and more patience. We are so ready to move in, but know rushing things is not the answer. Also have trust in your builder, like most things they may not be 100% correct the first time, give them a chance to go over things before you start to complain.
