Getting engaged is SO SO exciting. But it is easy to get caught up in the excitement and skip some important newly engaged must do’s. Obviously the first thing you do is call your family and friends and celebrate. But now that the celebrations have died down, it is time to be an adult again. I am partnering today with Jewelers Mutual to share some important maintenance/habits to learn about your new engagement ring. First you will want to ask your Fiancé if he has already gotten your ring insured, if not that is something you will want to do. Make sure you get the right jewelry coverage for your diamond ring. Have peace of mind knowing that Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company specializes solely in jewelry. You get an extra level of protection that often goes beyond what may be covered by typical homeowner’s or renter’s insurance. Second, now that you have a stunning rock on your hand, it is now your responsibility to take care of it. Go here to get your FREE Jewelers Mutual cleaning guide, and I will share a few tips I learned from the guide bellow.
Cleaning Your Ring
Cleaning your ring is so simple and only take a few minutes so there is no reason to get lazy about this ladies. This is something they recommend you do once a week, I like to clean mine on Saturday. Simply fill a little dish with water and dish soap and mix it together. Let the ring soak in the water for 5 or so minutes. Then use a clean toothbrush and scrub your ring, this is great for getting those hard to reach areas where dirt gets trapped. Then simply rinse with some clean water and you’re done! Please be careful while washing your ring to not do it over the sink, or else have the drain covered.
Where To Keep Your Ring
I learned from Jewelers Mutual that you shouldn’t always wear your ring, so when you are not wearing it, make sure you store it some where safe. I obviously knew to not wear your ring to the beach or a water park. But you are also not supposed to wear your ring while cooking, gardening, putting on lotion, and showering. I thought I was cleaning my ring by wearing it in the shower, haha, but apparently your soaps and conditioner can leave an icky residue on your ring. I keep a little dish in the bathroom to put my ring in while I shower, that way I always know where I put it. If I am taking my ring off for a longer activity like going to the pool or beach I have a special place in my jewelry box I keep it so I always know where it is.
Beginning Your Wedding Planning
When starting your planning process it is most important to keep in mind that it is what you and your Fiancé want, not what others want. Matt and I do not like large groups of people, it makes us feel anxious. So we knew right away we would want a small and intimate wedding. Also establish your timeframe, how quickly do you want to get married? Do you need to get your planning started right away, or do you want a longer more relaxed engagement? Once you have the size of your wedding and approximate date established you can start the beginning of your wedding planning. Stay tuned in to my wedding Wednesday posts, and soon you will find out our wedding date and location!
